    Default Suspension is on! (pics)

After a long wait, I finally got off my ass and got my suspension on. I had them put 1deg of forward rake. There is just shy of 1" clearance in the front and just over 1" in the rear. The car handles like it is on rails; like a go-kart.

JIC 7kg/10kg - My initial impressions of this suspension are very good. The setup is clean, exact, and rides better than stock. I can't say anything bad about them, honestly. Ben at JIC has really come through with a new level of service. I am also running 19" HREs and the ride isn't too rough at all. I couldn't be happier.

The first 5 images are 1280x960 and the final 3 are 640x480

Man thats badd ass! Now just get some HUGE ASS turbos, a ECU reflash, a boost controller, and a Borla exhaust and you'll own them vipers, overall.

Actually, an ECU flash with the stock turbos will put me at ~510-520hp/550-560tq and that will own Vipers as it sits. Their gearing isn't the best, as you know.

Stock gear ratios on a new Viper SRT-10 vert:

    1st Gear Ratio 2.66:1
    2nd Gear Ratio 1.78:1
    3rd Gear Ratio 1.30:1
    4th Gear Ratio 1.00:1
    5th Gear Ratio 0.74:1
    6th Gear Ratio 0.50:1
    Final Drive Ratio 3.07:1

Stock gear ratios on a 911 turbo (996 gen) 6spd:

    1st Gear Ratio 3.82:1
    2nd Gear Ratio 2.05:1
    3rd Gear Ratio 1.41:1
    4th Gear Ratio 1.12:1
    5th Gear Ratio 0.92:1
    6th Gear Ratio 0.75:1
    Final Drive Ratio 3.44:1

That 3.07 final drive really hurts them.

Okay, I'm a transmission noob. But if its like 3.85:1 you can go like 20mph and if its a 4.00:1 you can go 30mph? <<<<just an example

Well if I'm right, then you would theorticaly?sp? have a faster top speed? But that doesn't matter. Its who gets out of the corner quicker, WITHOUT GARGANTUOUS OVERSTEER, cough viper cough.

He would, in theory, have a higher top speed given that his 6th gear has such a ratio that it won't reach redline until 300mph. However, it doesn't have enough pull to do that...not nearly enough.

It's like the stock, 6spd 3000GT VR-4/Stealth: The redline top speed in 6th would be about 245mph given enough horsepower. That it ridiculous, though. The gears should be adjusted so that 6th gear redlines at around 195-200mph in 6th. Adjust the lower gears accordingly. The VR-4 (stock) doesn't pull hard enough in 6th to go much faster than 163mph give or take. At that point, drag takes over. They do this to save fuel in 6th, but I can't imagine that the savings are THAT much. My Porsche, on the other hand, redlines 6th gear at around 196-198mph. My 6th gear pulls very hard and it in a usable range. Gear ratio plays a VERY big roll in terms of acceleration. Why do you think that SupraTT's do so well on the highway? They have gearing much like my 911 turbo.

No. Higher number = better acceleration pull and you will run out of RPM more quickly. Lower gear ratios = higher top speed (in theory IF you have enough horsepower to push the car that fast). Most cars top out because of drag, not gearing limits.

Mustangs typically put in 4.10 rear gears when running the 1/4 mile. That helps their 1/4 mile time, but hurts their overall top end (given enough horsepower).

Yeah, thats what I mean. So when they say "tall gear ratio" its actually a smaller number, 3:1 vs 5:1. Just a longer amount of time in the gear?

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Ruiner again.

Longer time in that gear = taller gear

Not all mustangs...mine has 3.27 gears but i got i nice big exhaust driven air pump to increase torque multiplication...who needs 4.10 gears...lol

I just got it done yesterday, so no mountains as of yet. However, this is no roll and the steering is VERY exact.
