Yes, indeed, it IS plastic heavy which I wasn't happy about...but I figured it'd be a fun starter gun. I'm used to my dad's .357 S&W. Looks like one of the ones straight out of the western movies. Love it...but didn't want a revolver, yet. Nonetheless, the gun shoots pretty well. It DOES have a good bit of recoil, but with the right arm-build, it can easily be snapped back down to fire another round. When I go to the range saturday, I'll try to get a rapid-fire target. AR15 vs. SKS...I'm just very comfortable with the AR15 operation and cleaning. It was somewhat my job to clean M16's and mock m16's about a year ago. But a real M16 is far more expensive than an AR15.
