After a while the boat left and the man continued in his prayers. A few moments later, a rescue helicopter came and lowered a latter to the man. Again, the man shook his head and replied, "God will save me." Once again, the rescuers left when the man refused. The man continued in his prayers until finally the flood tore down his house and killed him.
Standing before God, the man looked up and asked, "Lord, I put all of my faith and confidence into you during my most troubling hour. Why did you let me die?" God in turn replied, "I heard your prayers my child. Yet when I sent the rescuemen in the boat to find you, you denied them. When I guided the helicopter to find you, you again denied rescuing."
Bascially, the moral is that it's our job to use the answers that God or whomever has given to us. Blind prayer isn't going to save you from sh*t. The treatment was there and he didn't take advantage of it. It was his own blind ignorance that lead him to die. I'm sure both the religious fanatics and the non-believers can agree to that.
I'm in no way a religious fanatic, but at least a more respectful wording could have been used.
