Default Big decision (need to vent a little)

Alright so I'm at Tech sitting in the damn library as i always do, should be in class. Problem: I hate this fucking school. Options now as it stands

    1. Move to FL to work full-time starting at $25/hr, can fly friends/family down whenever. Cool ass boss (best friend's brother, a 35y/o kid-at-heart) Free boat use on the weekends, etc. Go back to school in the fall.

    2. Go back to Georgia Southern next semester and party my ass off but still get good grades.

Southern is a DOWNGRADE from TECH..

but you know that of course..

tell them your getting burned out and need time off.. they should understand that and if you don't, you'll end up wasting money failing classes, etc.

plus, #1 option is much better than #2, b/c bitches love boats don't need drunken std ridden bitches to ruin your fun at Southern

What are you going to school for? Will you be happy doing the answer to to question 1 forever? How much does answer 1 pay?

Assuming you are like most people and will go to school and come out making about 20/hr I would move to Fla, that is assuming you can either move up or potentially become partners or something to ensure income long term. Your parents may be pissed initally but they will get over it if they see you are being successfull.

BTW 25/hr isnt amazing pay but its enough to live pretty decently on.

Well the thing is the job will always be there for me. So even if I don't go work now, I can go when I graduate, and make around 30/hr for him, but still have that degree if I decide I dont want to stay there.

I think the winter break will help a little bit. I am getting sick of tech as well. It is definately lacking in the fun department. No where to do anything if your not in a frat.

how long have u been at tech and how long would u have left man? i fucking hated it there too but shit man, the degree is worth it and the feeling of accomplishment u get from obtaining it is hard to match. w/that said, if i had to choose btw those 2 options, i'd definitely spring for #1.

I've only been here a semester and I have 5 semesters left, transferred from GSU. I can get the same degree from GSU with the GTREP program though.

I would probably stay at Tech and somehow try and get through, it sucks now, but think how nice it will be later on when you graduate. That's what keeps me here.

trust me it's boring at Tech and pretty hard...but that degree is priceless. since graduating i've learned it means A LOT in the professional world to say you graduated from Tech...

choose option #1 - take some time off, chill and make some money, and come back when you're fresh. no disrespect...but going to southern is a step back and doesnt make sense. a 2.5 GPA at Tech still means more than a 4.0 at southern LOL...

You're smack dab in the middle of Atlanta, you can go out and do anything you want at any hour of the day you choose. Are you 21?

What's your major? Is it possible that you're just burned out on your major, you might want to take a semester off of major classes and take some electives.

I'd probably choose #1 since I love Florida and because that is enough money to live off of. What kind of job is this that is waiting for you? Is it something you would enjoy doing? Does taking that much time off from school have any possible repercussions?

Seriously though, thats not bad pay. I'm doing some random four year degree for now at KSU, then I'm going back to school for two years to become a librarian. I'll probably only make like 52k a year, but its something I will enjoy.

    Bump for some shit.

Well I'm flying down the week before spring break to check out everything and check out the local community college (w00t dumb blond Florida chicks finally)

Haven't told my parents yet because all they will do is try to convince me not to.
Turns out his bro said he's looking to pay me around $100k now. Pretty sure I'm not taking my car down so I'll be picking up a nice Viper GTS as soon as I get settled in.

I just found out I'm gonna be making $100k, and that's just starting. He and I are also going to be co-owners on a current business prospect I'm getting going, due to the nature of his business/contacts, I should be able to pull in money hard.

I'm very close with his family, I practically live at his parents' house here (his lil bro is my best friend) He won't let me live a shitty life.

So you are tired of Tech and have a 100K handout? Must be nice.

Feel free to remind me of the vast experience you must have in the field.

6 years of web-based programming and graphic arts: Photoshop, Flash (ActionScript), Java, HTML. His company deals mostly with PHP though, which I've never done. But he said they'll be teaching me how to do it.

    That is very true.

I personally think having a degree from Georgia Tech is pretty important, especially if the job is going to wait for you. If I quit school to work a job @ 100K I know there is no way in fuck I would feel like going back. Heaven forebid if anything happens to the company or your position you will be out a job AND behind/without a college degree. This has alot to do with how far you are in your program though.

if you have a job making $100K per year you should have enough sense to invest a portion of it so that won't be an issue.

so if he is out of work at 30 and takes a huge cut in his salary then that portion of the 100k a year invested is supposed to let him live at the same standard of living for years and years?

Indeed, especially since he and I will be forming a few small side businesses as co-owners. That way if we sell I'll get half the dough.

this guy is either the nicest mother F**** in the world or he is retarded

no offense but its strange to put someone not yet done with college and that doesn't know all of the material required for that business as your co-owner when he knows a lot more then you.

don't take it personally, if i was someone else i wouldn't even consider cosigning the ownership of a business with myself lol

Ummm... what are you talking about? I've been doing programming since I was in 7th grade and he's been teaching me the entire time. You should probably learn a lot about business or you're gonna get raped in the future, since when does someone need to have a degree to know what they're talking about, let alone start a business in that field? I said we are going to form a couple small side businesses together, I'm not taking co-ownership of his current business.

That said, how do you know what kind of businesses we are starting? Are you really positive that I am incompetent in that field? Seems kind of unlikely due to the fact that I was the one who came up with the ideas for each business, he's just helping me go about handling the legalities and he's also providing the funding and hosting the websites/handling the marketing...

I'm sorry, what were you saying again???

Sorry for being kind of an asshole in this post, don't take it personally. I'm always an asshole.
