    Default Alcohol Sales On Sundays?

Would you be against this idea? or With? if they are really trying to consider to allow Alcohol sales on sundays? Georgia is just 1 of the 3 states that dont allow Alcohol sales on sunday.

    http://www.wsbtv.com/news/10365778/detail.html

ATLANTA -- “Six days a week you can buy alcohol – that’s plenty,” says Nicole Bennett.“I don’t understand the logic – it confuses me,” says Anne Beibleman. And it could be the next big debate under the gold dome – should grocery and convenience stores be allowed to sell beer and wine on Sundays?“Because the shopping patterns have changed so much, I am the perfect example of a very busy mother and I go to church and do my grocery shopping on Sunday

    – that’s what so many of our customers do now and again. We’re in the business of taking car of our customers,” says Kathy Kuzava with the Georgia Food Industry Association.“I would prefer it, it would make it much more convenient for me and I’m sure for a lot of people to be able to buy it when you’re at the grocery store rather than remembering when you can and when you can’t,” says Beibleman.

Georgia is one of only three states that prohibits the sale of alcohol on Sundays. Ten years ago, the Legislature changed the so-called Blue Laws to allow restaurants and bars to serve.

This is the first year the grocery and convenience store industry will pressure lawmakers on the issue.“I would probably need more rationale why you would allow liquor sales on Sundays. If it’s just for greater access, I would probably be against it,” says Darwin Sewell. When Channel 2’s Lori Geary asked Kuzava is she was worried about having a lot of opposition to this since Georgia is still in the Bible Belt, she replied,

“Well, it’s early in the debate. We know there will be some debate on this issue.”Some of the Republican leaders in the House say this issue is not on their agenda. Representative Mark Burkhalter told Lori Geary this was not something they’ve discussed in their caucus. His opinion is that the current law is working just fine.

safer than going to a bar and drinking then driving home.

I would be in favor of repealing the law. I hate having to drop everything to go buy beer @ 11:30pm on saturday night. Or having to go to a bar and spend $6 a beer

Exactly two beers could get me an 18 of Bud Light. Also on saturdays we tend to binge drink and run out of beer for sunday.

I think the drinking age is a resonible law. I wouldn't really want to see 18 year old kids at the clubs i go to.

the drinkin age definately needs to stay the same, now that Im old enough to drink and have been for a couple years, I would hate to have little kids in the bar. But I think the law makes no sense, sunday is a day to chill IMO and having some beer while chillin is the shit, I will just buy mine on saturday until they change the law though.

Alot of places charge between 5-6 for a tall boy. Where an 18 of bud light is around 12.99. So do the math.

I think its really stupid. Living in Fulton County we can get beer 24 hours a day except between midnight saturday and midnight Sunday, what difference does that extra day of no beer sales really make other than a large nuisance to consumers.

On the matter of drinking ages, I think that the drinking age should be lowered to somewhere around 16-18, but only in certain approved places (home, restaurants, sporting events?) with only a certain number of allowed drinks per person. I think this will help younger kids learn to respect alcohol and not abuse it like so many kids do when they get to college.

This is where I say that the government should stay out of what people do in their own homes. My parents would always let me taste drinks and on occasion when I was 18 or older would offer beers or wine at fancy dinners. As long as you're responsible and stay inside the house you should be fine.

My dad never had a problem with me drinking internationally and actually at times encouraged it (when in Scotland drink the fine scotch, Brussels the fine ales)

People like you are the ones that will never become leaders. If you dont like a law, make them change it. The poll currently shows more people disapproving of the law than approving it. Get together and write, email, call and DO something about it.

I did something about it...I moved where I can buy beer on Sundays

As far as drinking at 16-18, im happy where the drinking age is, in fact it should probably be raised to 25. The law is there to keep immature 18yo's that think every time they take a sip of alcohol that theres a party and everyone has to be stupid and loud from tearing up places. And the rest of us who just want to sit down and have a drink have to suffer w/ the 2 giddy little 18yo girls and the 19yo boy acting like they dont have any sense. Ive seen alot of 21yo's do it too.

Buying beer on sundays, shit why not

Ok. Please don't take this wrong, as I believe we have always been cool with each other, but I can't believe that the thought of buying alcohol actually played any role in your decision to move there. You're still lucky to be there, though. Lolol. Later, QD.

although it probably increases your chances of running into a situation like this... you can't base maturity ENTIRELY on someone's age.

with a higher age you get the opportunity to run into more experiences and learn more, but that doesn't stop younger people from doing the same.

if you are getting to vote at 18 and are paying taxes and what not then you should be able to decide to drink if you want too. And also the age old draft point as well, you can get killed in war but not drink a beer.

It doesn't matter that you can drink on the base either, i'd rather not drink at all rather then have a gun pointed at me with a colt 45 in one hand for a war i might not support

the law is fucking retarded, its based on the christian religion

i mean if your religious, why dont you just simply dont drink on sundays? that would be the logical answer, because this law imposes on what others want to do on their sundays (ie buy alcohol at stores)

I thought it was illegal to base a law off of religion in the United States. Then, I woke up and relized that 99% or the law makers do not give a shit. But yes you should be able to buy alcohol on sundays. I also think the drinking age should be lowered to 18 but that is a completely different argument.

you also must be 19. I think the law is an old one thats just still on the books and no one has bothered to do anything about repealing it. You're right about the lawmakers not giving a shit tho.
