Default Sad story, but hopefully a happy ending

Since there is no longer a pet section, I'm posting in here. I need some help fellow IA'ers... here's the story... (sorry it's kinda long)

Today at the shop, an elderly gentlemen came in. He obviously had some serious medical conditions; however, right by his side was a little Jack Russell named Scrappy that he takes everywhere with him. He bragged about that little dog for nearly 15 minutes. I helped him with what he needed and he began walking out to his truck... the little dog by his side. When he reached his truck, the dog wandered off into some tall grass. I asked if he needed some help and he simply replied, "No that's quite alright... he's just using the restroom. He'll come back. He always does." Thinking nothing of it, I walked back inside. About 10 minutes later, the old man drives off. Shortly following, I see a truck backing down the highway. It's a busy road, so it really caught my attention. He kneels down and when he stands back up, I see him holding Scrappy. Someone had hit him and didn't stop.

Unknowingly, the old man had driven down the road to look for his dog. The good Samaritan took the dog to the vet with hope it could be saved; however, it was too late. The old man came back to the shop to see if his little friend had returned. It broke my heart to tell him that his dog had been killed. It was terrible, and to see the look on his face... you could just tell that Scrappy had been his best friend. Quietly, he just sadly walked back to his car and drove away.

So.... after a day full of tears, we decided that we would get the man another puppy. He's a frequent visitor to our shop and he's such a sweet old man.

    My question to you is...
Does anyone know of any or have any small puppies that I could purchase? I'd really appreciate some help from you guys if at all possible. Thank you sooo much in advance!

Thanks, that would be great. If you don't mind, how much did you pay for your pup? I'm not looking to spend a lot of money

I'm not really looking to spend that much... I just need a pup who is need of a home. Purebred and papers don't really matter in this situation. Thank you so much though... I really appreciate it!

I'm so sorry to hear that.

Be careful if you find a shelter dog for him- I got one on Saturday and I've already spent over $100 on vet visits with her.

Best of luck and we'll keep an eye out.

Maybe a rescue group? If this is an older gentleman, a really young puppy may be too much.
