lol seriously......
im watchin this documentry on african american lives. and i started to think about what my grandmother said about our family.
back in the slavery days my great+ grandmother ( on my moms side) had an owner. and of course a white male. she got raped by him and had a son. the funny thing about him was he looked exactly like a white guy but he was darkskin w/ different color eyes i think greeish hazel or grey ( they stood out whatever color they were. so everyone knew that he belonged to the slave owner. then the owner had sex with my great+ grandmother again but this time she had a daughter and she was extremely lightskin and also had features of a white person. ( i cant remember their names so bare with me)
the son is the one who made the chain for the black side of the family ( and thats who they are today down to me) but the sister could pass for white if she wanted ( which she did cause it was an easier life) married a white man and then had kids and they are the white dise of the family.
the black side of my family lives in Cincinnati the white side of the family lives in chicago somewhere. ( only my grandmother, her sisters, and the elders know where. ive seen pictures of these pple but i would love to meet them someday.
the point im trying to make is that there are 2+ sides of my family and its almost like if you think about it some of us or even most of us who has lived in the US could possible be family one way or another.....i jus thought it was an interesting topic........
