    Default Comp going Wacko

    Alrighty I come home and I turn on the comp and it loads and no window. so I'm like shit...so I try every thing but nada. It says I'm missing a file bit I don't know to reinstall that file. So how do I reboot the computer and start fresh. I'm on the sidekick thank god.

    press f4 or f6 ( varies with each motherboard ) repeatedly on startup to come up with a boot option for Safe Mode - see if that works

    if it doesnt - throw in the XP cd and go through with the Repair option

    Sounds like your Explorer.exe, or this other file isn't starting up. You're gonna have to use system restore to replace those missing files.

    So you can get into windows? It sounds like you might have a virus anyways, better off just formatting and reinstall windows. Have windows delete the C:/Windows (default installation directory) and overwrite that directory. When you do so, it will allow you to have a fresh install of windows, with your whole filetree still in-tact, of course you would have to re-link all your files back or reinstall some programs, but at least you are just killing the Windows folder.

    I did everything I can. Went to the boot menu and ya dada..Then use the factory reinstallment disk. Nada I have a bad hard or a corrrupted file either way my comp is dead as a door knob.
