i don't do strings, i do just glow sticks on hands with motion of the body and hands :-D lol not seriously tho, just for fun when it's dark at a party and there's techno music

haha been seeing lots of that at club bunker i cant work the strings but im hella good at the normal glowsticks it look way harder but i liike the swirly effect that guy did very neat stuff

i have a friend that does it pretty damn well, i mean he's not the best but he's pretty good at it. only been doin it for bout a year or so. from watchin him do it. you just have to get into the music i guess and know what forms n i guess the way you swing the strings go with the way the music is going

I got into glowstringing aka poi for a bit but never found it too fun compared to dancing. At clubs, there's never enough room and you're just asking to be an attention whore with 'em... I prefer street dance styles (pop, lock, liquid, etc) and bodytracing with glowsticks.
Getting into glowstringing isn't too hard... get a lanyard or shoestring, hold one end with your fingers and pull the string to your shoulder of the same arm... thats the proper length you'll need for glowstringing. From there, just practice the basics first like the butterfly - spin both strings with glowsticks on them inwards and keep them consistant so they can interweave with each other... etc. etc.
Best way to learn is watch some poi videos or get a friend who can do it to show you hands-on. Once you learn the basics, you can learn all different styles... my favorite being bodywraps. If you're serious 'bout learning, be prepared to take a beating from those sticks. =D
