    FORCED no.

Allowed that is debateable... if you allow christian prayer shouldn't you allow muslims to take time each day to pray, atheist to have time for self, etc...

i know when i was in school i had a few teachers try to force me to stand for the pledge... it never worked i actually told one it was my religious right to sit. teachers are so afraid of suits they'll just leave you alone.

I do think WORLD religion classes should be offered in public schools. Its very importanta for children to get a broad idea of what life has to offer.

    --------

Now if its a private or alternative school you must follow any code of ethics you/your parents agree too

Forced to pray? Forced to do anything, no. I think you phrased that wrong. I've never seen a teacher force a kid to pray.

As far as the pledge goes. Why not pledge allegiance to this country? If you were in China and you didn't, you get shot. A country that lets you essentially do what you want within reason is a pretty good one in my book.

I'm not debating any of this shit with you guys because I get frustrated and it's pointless.lol. On the internet, if you seem frustrated, the other side seemingly wins in most cases. So dont ask me shit. Thats all I have to say.

only reason i this is not "ONE NATION UNDER GOD" i have no problem w/ my country other then them forcing me to say something i don't believe. now if they take that out like in the original pledge then you will find me standing for it.

sure...pray so long as it doesn't interrupt the class schedule. There's a time and place for everything. As Christian as you know I am, I think that prayer in school is great, but should not be set aside for students. There's a cirriculum (sp?) to follow and kids need to spend as much time in the books as possible. Most classes offer a few minute before class and towards the end as "free time". Use your time wisely I guess.

Why would you argue about saying the pledge of allegiance??????????
You sat while everyone said it? That is bs. I am so tired of people acting like that. You should move the hell out of this country if you dont like the laws and ideas. Piece of shit. Move to a communist country and have all of your desicions made for you, so you dont fu** them up.

EAD if i don't want to stand for it i won't that has nothing to to do patriotism. if the pledge said ONE NATION UNDER ISLAM would you stand for it? no

and its not even the original pledge anyway so what is the big fucking deal?

i make no sense yet you won't answer the question? ok. this topic has already be fought in court and you can't force people to stand for something they don't believe in. its that simple. your sitting here saying i need to move to communist country when you yourself are being hypocrite. the decision has already been made for you "ONE NATION UNDER GOD"; i guess you failed history/gov't class.

I am not saying that you have to stand and say the pledge. I am saying that you should stand. You not standing makes you look like a dick. This country is free because of that flag and standing up in what you beleive in. Dont worry about it, you sound like a muslim or something.

Forced prayer= No, but you should still have the right to do so in a silent manner.

Prayer in school is fine by me... whether you pray to the Christian God or to Allah or whatever you want to pray about... money? sex? take your pick... time set aside for that in school? No... thats a personal belief and should be done on your personal time.

as for the pledge, you should stand for respect for this country... as for the Under God part of it, you dont have to recite it nor respect it, but you should still stand up during the pledge because we as Americans should and do. When in Rome, do as the Romans do.

and if the Under God part offends folks so much or just the meer word God in its context offends folks here, i'd be glad to take those greens in your wallet and bank all day!

Short answer - no special allotment of prayer is needed.
In America anyone is already lawfully 'allowed' to pray to any god/deity whenever he/she wants to...including in school...or at the DMV for that matter....and that it should be. In Amercia youre also free NOT to pray to any god/deity at any time or place. Freedom OF religion, and freedom FROM religion.

So called christians who complain they can't pray at school are full of crap! Anyone can pray anytime, anywhere! No one will come take you away. You wont be arrested. Why must you insist on praying through the microphone/PA system? This indicates "vain" prayers to me...that is praying to show off to others that they might hear you and think youre pious.
If one is truly praying to God they dont need a PA system.

I think it should be allowed, and anyone could pray so long as they do it on thier own time.

But the idea of a whole class having prayer is a bad idea. Someone is bound to get offended somehow. Maybe if they allocated time for individual prayer for the students.

Prayer in public school is allowed (Unoffically). Some even abuse it. Last year three kids at EHS thought it would be funny if they messed around and prayed for 30 minutes. (to get out of work.) The teacher got angry that they weren't working and called the princaple(sp?). He came down and talked with the kids and teacher. And in the end he said that kids did nothing wrong. (Probably because he didn't want to look like a nazi or something.) After that the teacher came back in all mad and left, she didn't return till next week. I don't know if it was because of the princaple(sp?) or if she was just angry.

And if you think that kids are never forced to recite "The Pledge of Allegiance" you're sadly mistaken. In all JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps) all cadets are required to recite "The Pledge of Allegiance" everyday before class starts. Even if they already recited it earlier that day. (And PS: President Dwight D. Eisenhower approved the addition of "Under God". And give credit, Francis Bellamy & James Upham authored the pledge.)

But anyway, I believe that if you want to pray go ahead. But don't try and "Recruit" people. And pick your times, because you're there to learn in the first place. It might be your way but it isn't everyone's.

JROTC is not public school, its a program that you sign up for, so there goes your free speach

Can you tell me where, in that quote, I said "in public school"?
But thats away from my point.
JROTC is in public school. It is a class which can be taken if a student wants to. And if you do you must recite the pledge. So I would say that fits under "Being forced to say the pledge in public school".
