sump: for filteration. bactaria grows on the bio balls that changes your ammonia to nitrite then nitrate when water pases thru it. they are known for nitrate factories, therefore if you have a reef system, keep an eye on your nitrates. corals and some invertabrates doesnt torelate high nitrates. fishes can torelate high nitrates to an extent.Originally Posted by confusedkorean

I've never ran the remora. i run the coralife super skimmer untill i get my ASM skimmer. you should be fine without the sump. what filter do you run? also, thereeftank.com is not that great of a site. go to saltwaterfish.com/vb
