    Default bots?

    I have a website. and can't figure out how to stop bots from creating membersships. they don't post but the take up like a quarter of total members. displaying there website like porn or shopping or religion. you get the point. can someone help me on this one. don't know how to stop them.

    I would recommend using Captcha and an email verification.

    ^ email verification, 1 acct per email, etc...

    DEFINATELY USE A CAPTCHA!! On this one forum I mod, there's like 600 or so members, but 3/4 are from Mongolia, never post, and promote some drug in their sig. Oh, and one name per IP unless they contact you explicitly.

    is this a special program. or an option under the admin section.

    can you tell just by the makers of the forums. if so here is the link to the site.

    Captcha should already be a admin option under phpbb which is the software you use for your site. I had already checked it by clicking on the link under your sig. The disclaimer here though, is that captcha needs to be upgraded to a stronger version to be much use as it isn't very secure from the box. Just do a google search for the terms phpbb and captcha and you should find what you need.
