The catholic position on birth control is much like it is on abortion. That being to prevent conception is taking life that God gives. If one studies the history of this catholic notion one will find the origin to have much more to do with overwhelming the "competition" with sheer numbers, and nothing whatsoever to do with destruction of life.

With regard to "overwhelming" others by sheer numbers, its also enlightening to read 18,19th & early 20th century roman catholic positions regarding the USA in terms of immigrants. One will gain some insight into some things that church stands for, not its people nessessarily, but the system and its leadership.

I have "heard" that Catholics are against any kind of birth control so going by hearsay I would say that any kind of prevention of birth would be against Catholic beliefs.
