Ive purchased about 6 laptops from major retailiers in the past two months and returned them for various reasons, but hands down I have this one in the link below. Paul and I both have them and I love it. Portable, light, and powerful enough to play some games.

Any where you have open (non-WEP enabled) sites you can access the web, such as at the Varsity, Starbucks, etc.

if you want really cheap good for internet and has built in Wifi get an acer, you can upgrade the battery for longer battery life. i got mine on sale for like 300 bucks and it lasted me my first year in college with ease. I can somewhat play counter-strike on it. not bad for it's price.
No siggy as of right now

    Get a Laptop Wireless ready.
Whatever Service you have will work all you need is a wireless router.

I just recently bought a Toshiba Satellite m55-3292 and it kicks ass , I got tired of buying bullshit laptops. Is not the best laptop but it beats buying cheap laptops.
This ones goes for under $1100.00

The AMD Turion 64 is a good mobile chip. A dual-core version is dropping sometime in the next two months. With Intel following up in July with thier new chipsets. By the time software is ready for dual-core technology you will have bought a new comp by then. I have read that Vista will be built for dual-core proc....time will tell.
