Cable question
I'm using comcast cable and as of lately I"ve been having this intermittent problem. I"m losing packets and getting bumped off my network frequently. Also it takes damn near forever to get to a website. When i finally do get to one and click a link I constantly get this page cannot be display/found bullshit. The lowest speed i've gotten is 1Mps. What is causing this problem and how do i fix it? I just switched from Bellsouth to Comcast and it looks like there isn't any improvement of service
I tried:
resetting the modem
spyware scan
deleting the internet temp files

Check all of the cables and connections in the actual cable lines. It could be that your cable lines in your house/apt are old and aren't transfering a strong enough signal. You can buy a signal booster to bump it up. Also if you have any splitters you could be cutting your signal down a lot... Try testing it right where the cable comes into the house/apt and see if the problem persists...
Good choice switching to comcast... Their customer service SUCKS but once you get the internet working solid it is AWESOME
.
By the way nice alizee (sp) avatar...!

What time are you having the problem? With cable you share with others off the node, so if there are a lot of people in your immediately area all making request/downloading/etc. you will have slow speeds. My cousin's cable gets so bad at night that he has to connect with a 56k just to get his email.
DSL has a slower top speed, but is always at the same speed. I stay at 3Mb no matter what, all the time. That works better for me since I download a lot and am online constantly.
Customer service usually sucks for most big companies.

Thanks and you spelled it right. Anyways, the problem is happening all throughout the day and there are only two computers actively running off the network right now. Its hooked up to four. I tried browsing sites on a different computer and it works fine. Comcast came out a while back and changed the splitters and lines.
