Default windows media player shuts down????

whenever i try to play a video or even open media player, it shuts down with in a few seconds for no apparent reason. i get no error messages or any warning. it just closes the program, and some times it will shut down firefox as well.

i've tried uninstalling and re-installing with mp 10 but it still doesn't work.

anyone have any ideas or can help?

haha o come on that's the easy way....aka what they do at fry's, CC, best buy, micro center, compUSA, and everywhere else... i find it easier to find the problem so you don't lose information when you reformat. that way if it happens again or to a friend you can be all super cool and fix it for them ;-)
