i dotn agree with that statement for 1 reason intel is doing really bad on the dual core processor market amd is killing them and people are starting to notice.. mac is ass sorry...
Just another new toy for "trendy" ppl to waste their money on it'll prolly come with a ipod Nano paint scheme. PC+AMD64x2+vista=mac killer
yeah i just saw it
well intel based systems will have the possibility of running either, there are already 3rd party companies working on solving this, you could see Mac OS on your dell soon enough
that will open up a world of opportunity for Mac, grabing up some new users in the PC world. either way its going to be interesting to see
thats all the needed to be said...Originally Posted by Negrodamus
i think its a smart move for mac. im not excited at all about vista or any new MS product, looks like there may be a main stream (dont get me wrong i love linux, but for some things its just not practical) alternative to windows on pc hardware! apple is going to lose their ass now though because theyve made alottttt of money due to their proprietary hardware
I dont think Mac will become more mainstream then Windows anytime soon. Just due to the fact that most people dont want to learn a new operating system. Windows is practically the same since 98 so people have been able to learn how they need to get things done for 8 years now. They have also learned how to use specific apps too like powerpoint, word, excel.. etc. Microsoft has established a name. I think alot of people hate it just because it is the "mainstream" os. Ya linux is cool but its not for the everyday joes and bettys that wanna surf the net and type a letter
Been on an Apple since 97, if you haven't lived with an Apple then I'm afraid you don't know what you're talking about. Actually if you don't own an Apple, you probably don't know what you're talking about because you don't have any relevant experience with one, but opinions are like assholes, and I'm sure everyones going to ramble on about how shitty Apple is and how they're going to fail at this, and loose their ass at that. They won't.
Since the introduction of the original iMac, Apple has been gaining ground. Toss in the iPod, and the fact that now programs can be "universal" (one of the main reasons PC people don't buy Apples) and you'll see that Apple has got their shit together and continues to make very strong products, that are better performing, and generally poses better aesthetics than their PC counter parts.

The largest unbiased comparison of Apple OS X and Windows XP.
while i must say they have gained alot of ground with os x, i still cant say that apple has their shit straight. even though they bought the original gui rights from xerox, windows beat them by leaps and bounds. and then they based thier newest OS on a system that was developed by others.. and now is converting to hardware that has been their arch enemy for years! while i think that osx is great.. i dunno that apple is ahead by any means
i dislike windows with a passion. linux is actually great for surfing the web and typing a letter, it looses its allure to most people when they are used to windows and want to start playing games or other oddball applications
i mostly agree. as fatuuss said above. Software is probably the key for mac. i like mac, and how they run. But i cant use it. My livleyhood (sp?) revolves around PC based products. i think this is a "to each thier own" topic. Weither u run AMD or Intel. Or run XP OSX, plan to run Vista, or X64 or Red Hat or any other OS; it all depends on what u do. I make my living on a win2000 intel. But there are graphics people that make thier living on Mac OSX (for good reason). So like I said to each thier own. But in my realitive little world AMD owns intel and PC owns Mac.Originally Posted by Negrodamus

imo, amd has had a pretty good advantage over intel for a while now. and i forsee macos working with amd processors also.
