I believe this, to a point. My dad grew up in the 60s and 70s, and he has tons of stories to tell me. He was in the muscle car scene when it was coming up. One of the most prominent stories was when the gas stations would coat their parking lots with this substance that would help prevent fires. Low and behold this stuff is GREAT for doing burnouts. So my dad and his buddies would pull into the lot and light em up. After 30 seconds or so, the store owner would come out and wave them on. Dad would say "Thank you, sir. Yessir!" And head out. No harm, no foul, just kids having fun.
Nowadays, as soon as you pull into the lot it seems the clerk would be on the phone with the police, and you would get tossed in jail. I understand the world is a different place now, and I guess this is the result.
