No, it is not Teacher Appreciation Week, but I believe that we forget about the educators that have nurtured our self-esteem and fed our minds. For those of you that believe education is a just chore, I'm sure you will not have anything positive to add. With that being said, post memories of your favorite teacher and how he/she impacted your life. Grade level really does not matter. Yes, I know there are teachers that should just walk away from their position, but there are those that have dedicated their lives in hopes of opening our minds and offering us that glimmer of hope when it failed to shine. My most memorable teachers:
1-First grade teacher Mrs. Hahn-When I was ill, she tutored me all summer free of charge so I could move on to the next grade. Her tutoring allowed me to actually graduate a year earlier than my friends.
2-Eng. Prof Dr. Simpson-She was so concerned with my grades, she called my employer and demanded they stop giving me so many hours..LoL. By boss actually reduced my hours!
3-Calculus Prof Dr. Lutz-She let me call her at home if I had any homework problems. She also gave up many family vacations to offer support when finals came around.
"Modern cynics and skeptics... see no harm in paying those to whom they entrust the minds of their children a smaller wage than is paid to those to whom they entrust the care of their plumbing." ~John F. Kennedy
