    Default First gun. Kel-tec

Well I picked up a Kel-tec P40 the other day for my first gun. Sorry for the crappy pics but here it is.

This was my first time shooting a gun in about 15 years lol. Not to bad I think. Seeing as I don't have anything to compare it to right now, it kicks pretty good for it's size. I was very surprised when I pulled the trigger. I'm going to try to go back to the range tomorrow before class.

keltec has a binding problem. Just read a few reviews with this complaint. Keep it cleaned.

I had issues with my old Kel-tec jamming on reloads at my local range. Figured it was the gun so I got rid of it. My old XDM did the same thing on the same reloads. Wouldn't mind getting another PF9.

I carry a small Keltec .380 as my carry pistol. No complaints other than my big ass hands.

as far as the ol "kel tecs always jam" rumor, just be sure to polish the feed ramp and put a small drop of blue loc tite on the ejector screw to keep it from getting loose and you'll be golden. I carry a P3AT daily and it runs 100% no FTE's or FTF's.

And not bad groupings either for your first time in a long time. i see on your third target most of your shots went high left, try being slower and smoother on the trigger pull. If you pull slow and smooth all the way through they should start falling into center mass consistently.

wow, where'd you find a p40 at? they don't make those anymore. put about 300 rounds of some fmj, clean it up, and you'll be fine.

very true! I carry a PF-9 daily and i have put about 1200 rounds through it and i have NEVER had a jam or a load problem. Although, every time my wife would fire the pistol, it would not feed and would consistently jam. I have come to the conclusion with the Kel-Tec brand. AWLAYS - keep the feed oiled and always pull the trigger ALL THE WAY BACK when firing, and the tighter you hold the pistol the better it shoots (because of the lightweight design, it is hard to rely on a 'balanced construction'.

I have always had amazing grouping with my gun and as for an 'always carry, lightweight, slim, 9mm pistol' i am very pleased with the Kel-Tel PF-9

Thats your problem they was not design for a long shot , 10 -15 feet max was what they was design for . I can hit a few groups with in 2"s of each other from 15 yards but I also shoot a lot .Practice is the key .

I shot my friend's LCP 380 the other day and absolutely hated it. The long trigger pull made it uncomfortable to shoot.
