Default A good place to eat? - Decatur

I'm looking for a good place to eat in Decatur. My girlfriend and I eat out, a lot. We've tried random multiple places in Decatur and nothing we've tried has been good aside from a cracker barrel, chicfla and the Emory dining hall. (and the cracker barrel and chicfla were both just on the side of the road when traveling)

Can SOMEONE recommend a good place to eat. Not looking for any specific type of restaurant, it can be American, Chinese, Japanese, steak, Mexican, whatever. I've got some great recommendations for more up-scale dinner locations, but I'm just looking for an every-day regular place to eat. Nothing big, fancy, or expensive, just a good place.

It seems everywhere here we've been so far focuses on quantity, not quality.

For instance tonight we went to a place called "The Golden Buddha." We were sat immediately, the service was great, and the food came out almost instantly. However...the food was horrible. I even read some reviews on the place before I went, tons of reviews saying "I've been going here for years! I love it!" we actually heard two guys having a conversation as we were walking in saying "Yeah man, I've been coming here for what feels like the past 10 years. It's great." My question is WHAT THE HELL is wrong with these people? Do they get special dishes? Because the garbage we had tonight wasn't material to get us to come back for years to come. We ended up not being able to finish eating it, just paid and left. Apparently it's a chain, which is beyond me off of the impression I got of this place tonight.

and nobody serves REAL sweet tea. what's with that? I thought this was the South. The only place we've found made in house sweet tea is the McDonalds, and they even manage to screw it up. Is there anywhere in Atlanta that makes their sweet tea in house? Not this nestea lemon flavored crap that everybody has been trying to pass off as sweet tea

Toco Hills Shopping Center on North Druid Hills between Clairemont and Lavista has amazing restaurants. EDO Japanese Steakhouse is great for Hibachi. Top Spice in the same shopping center on the end is amazing for Thai and Malaysian cuisine. There's also a Pizza place and a Indian place that are always packed. It's right around the corner from Emory.

Also in downtown Decatur has a place called Siam which is a quaint Thai Restaurant w/ amazing food and service. Then there is a Sushi Avenue down there that is great. Actually all the food places in downtown decatur is good. There is a Taco Mac and Fellini's Pizza. Also has many other small restuarants that are great. Hope this helps.

i don't even know where to start. There are so many places to eat that are good.

Nakato, Watershed, Sushi Avenue, Los Loros, Raging Burrito, Everybody's Pizza, Fellinis, Wahoo, Mediterranean Grill, Athens Pizza, Six Feet Under, Fox Brothers BBQ, Bhojanic, Thumbs Up Diner, The Brick Store Pub, .. and many more in the general area. Lots of real high end places too but I can't afford them haha

    Fox Brothers FTW!

but if you want something in decatur i definitely recommend The Brick Store, or their sister location Leon's. Both of which are in down town decatur. The Noodle in the same area i hear is good as well.

    Meskerem...

Its an Ethiopean place. Most of their dishes are really rich stews that are served on top of flat bread. You are also given a sourdough bread called injera that you use as a utensil. There is no silverware, you eat with your hands and the bread.

When I went, I had the Awaze Tibs, which was a spicy beef stew with chunks of the injera bread in it. They use a lot of cardamom in the Awaze if you're familiar with spices. I tried a little of the regular Tibs my friend ordered and it was good too. It was the same sort of stew, but less spicy and with vegetables instead of the bread.

I also ate at Cafe Bombay recently and it was good, but knida spendy at like $12 for lunch buffet. I hear they have belly dancers at night though
