here is a letter ive been sending out, feel free to steal it and send it out to ppl you know as well. we really need to get this legislation pushed through.
I'd like you to sign a petition supporting Georgia House Bill 615, which will essentially remove the ridiculous and harmful firearms laws that plague the state of Georgia. Georgia's gun laws were originally intended to strip African Americans of their right to defend themselves with firearms but they affect everyone regardless of color or affiliation. Georgia law provides the governor the power to confiscate all your firearms in any event he declares is an emergency and outlaws carrying firearms in churches, schools, public gatherings, public buildings, and in state government buildings. History has proven that massacres such as the Virginia Tech, Columbine High and Fort Hood shootings are all committed in "gun free" zones, that the police (average response time of 8 minutes) are practically guaranteed to arrive after you or your family is hurt or dead, and that even your fellow citizens may stand by and watch while you are stabbed to death (Kitty Genovese case). However, you and I can change that. Join me in supporting Georgia House Bill 615, which will eliminate the insane "gun free zones", remove the governor's ability to strip honest citizens of their right to protect themselves during an emergency, and let law-abiding Georgians protect themselves and their loved ones wherever they are. You will not have to walk in fear across the campus at night. You will not be worried about being shot in the back during praise and worship. You will know that you can protect that which is most important to you. Join me, so that we can eliminate these laws forever. Below is a link for a petition for HB615, and it will also have basic info about the bill. Please also forward this to friends and speak with your representative. Everyone says us young people dont follow politics and laws and are useless. well make a difference...
