The line of kings from David would endure forever

Bible prophecy: 2 Samuel 7:16
Prophecy written: Samuel lived about 3,000 years ago
Prophecy fulfilled: Beginning in about 31 AD with the resurrection of Jesus Christ

This Bible prophecy, and a few others as well, allude to King David's descendants having an eternal hold on the throne of Israel.

King David lived and reigned about 3,000 years ago. His descendants continued to reign over all or part of the land of Israel until the time of the Babylonian conquest, which was about 2,600 years ago.

But, aside from Jesus, there has been no king of Davidic descent since the time of the Babylonian conquest. Jesus is fully human and fully God. As a human, he is a descendant of King David. As God, he is eternal. Therefore, he is in a unique position to fulfill the prophecy in which David's throne is to be eternal.

you know what, come to think of it none of these are prophecy, the bible was written after Jesus was killed yes? let me try to find where it says anything about
As far as Christian beliefs, Jesus was from the lineage of King David, basically making him an heir to the thrown. The people of that day believed that he was the coming "king" who would overthrow Ceaser and free Jerusalem (hence the prophecy of the Messiah entering Jerusalem on a donkey and the people placing palm branches before his path, as they did for royalty)

So, on a belief aspect and the prophecy in question, those who are deemed "Christian" are thus brothers/brethren with eachother; hence, deeming them children of God (just as Jesus was the son of God, making Jesus a "brother") and thus making Christians heirs to the thrown of God.

So to go full circle, if Jesus were our brother (taken into context), that would make Christians descendants of David, fulfilling the prophecy.
