Tybee Island

Has anyone been there? If so how are the beaches? Just looking to a a weekend trip to the beach and i don't want to end up driving all the way to FL.

I wouldn't really stay for more than a day. My friends and I took a fishing trip down there for a day; we didn't catch anything. It's a pretty boring, tourist town. The beaches have a decent amount of visitors. The sand is somewhat dark, and the water looks nowhere close to clear (greenish/brownish color). We also went to some restaurant down there, and it was pretty good. Aside from renting a boat and going deep-sea fishing, I doubt I'll find myself there again.

Take off to St. Simon's Island. We have a house right on the coast and it's a very quiet, nice town. No tourists. Perfect for a quiet weekend. About a four hour drive. Later, QD.

I went there last year. Basically, stay in Savannah and go to Tybee for one or two days. It's not bad, but they're right. Water is clowdy.

You could have fun body-boarding, which I did. It was pretty wavy and windy.

Other than that, if you have to have a nice beach, I'd go somewhere else.

I've been to Tybee a few times. Its not to wild but good for a weekend vacation.

What the others said. I like it down there though. Beach wasn't crowded or anything when i went. I'm actually going this upcoming weekend
