Your statement makes no sense. That's like someone from Germany coming over here and telling you not to buy a high horsepower car, due to the speed limit being 70 mph. Or you not liking big tits cause they're fake. It's about 30-40 bucks to get snowboard and boots every time you go snowboarding and they suck! You can piece together a good beginners package for around $300, specially since it's the off season now.

ROFL at ur examples, they are terrible

The mountain in the carolinas are shit i wouldnt buy a board just to ski those shitty mountains. i was saying I WOULDNT. if he wants to than by all means. Now if he wanted to travel and snowboard, it would be worth imo.

I plan on snowboarding both. I will probably hit the TN or NC for quick weekend trips. Like I said, I also plan on heading out west with some friends also. Lots of good info here guys, Thanks.

I've been looking on the websites you guys showed me and there are alot of awesome deals out there on everything, esp on the sierra site. I'm just trying to get a good idea of size wise, which board would be best for me. I PM'd Tuan and he said he's riding a 156cm board and he's about 4 inches taller than me. I'm guessing a 151cm board would be ok for me since i'm about 5'6, 165lbs.

    Default '08 models

yeah I just got back from a trip out to mammoth mtn. in cali. all of the '08 models should be marked down a lot this time of year. check out sun and ski sports at discovery mills. they have a good selection of last years stuff that you can get a killer deal on. I bought a pair of '08 K2 boots a few months ago from there and they were only $125 marked down from $275.

i disagree, Mt. Tremblant, Canada is definitely one of my top choices to ride. Snowshoe WV isn't bad either, i have a timeshare there in the village - doesn't seem like a waste of money to me!

I also take the time to fly out to The Canyons and Park City in Utah once a season - while excellent spots on the west coast are a dime a dozen... there are a few places on the East Coast that are killer as well.

...you just have to drive/fly a ways, can't be a wimp - drive four hours, and expect great snow. That just doesn't happen... WV is the lowest i go on the East Coast to board... I plan on exploring Vermont next year.

Other than vermont, the east coast for snowboarding sucks. The only decent Snowpark in WV is winterplace....

I highly suggest going to Vermont. Stay after from the slush in north carolina.

east coast boarding does NOT suck, it's just a little different. No, you don't have insane amounts of snow that you can get lost in... But if you're okay with not having miles and miles of halfpipes and flattops, then you're good to go.

Everyone hates on the east coast for some reason... i've noticed it's usually it's folks who've gone out to Rockies once or twice and are caught up in the buzz. lol

    winterplace? lol

Mr.EM1, why didn't you and Dustin ride out with me this winter to WV/or out west? I had room in the plane bro.

Winterplace is a ski resort in WV...

But other than vermont, east coast sucks for anyone who is above an intermediate skill level.

The east coast is great for beginners though.

It cost 35-45 bucks to rent a snowboard and boots everytime you go boarding. You can get a decent snowboard, bindings, and boots for around 300-350 right now since its off season. Snowboard 6-7 times anf it will be worth it. The HEAD boards that they let you rent are horrible, the boots are heavy and hurt. If the kid wants to snowboard then why not invest in a board?

yea rentals do suck ass although i havent rented a board since '01 and they were horrible compared to today but they still suck.

He plans on traveling to board which is the best to do, trying new mountains are always fun!..

Yea peter glenn has killer package deals. One of the guys almost talked me into getting the new Burton Custom and burton lexa bindings bc it was so cheap.

Kid? Who you calling kid? Hahaha, just kidding. Yeah, I plan on checking out Peter Glenn this weekend. If anything, get measured to make sure I get the right size everything. Any input on this guys height/weight to board cm ratio, shoe size comparable to what a boot size should be, and binding size?

Went back to Sun Ski sports to try on some boots. Tried on a pair of the Burton Hail boots and they were freakin awesome. They had them for $219 with 25% off. Went home, logged onto Sierra snow and got them for $109 shipped. For for the board, boots, and bindings I paid $374 shipped. Now that's an awesome deal in my opinion.
