    Default General Work Out Plans?

Well I'm steadily getting back into the gym mode of things. I've heard a lot of suggestions but nothing really solid.

I've heard that working out for an hour is plenty, anything over that is too much and not worth it.

Cardio is essential to weight loss?

Finding target heart rate will help with weight loss. (TRUE?)

Basically I'm trying to loss weight, like the 30 pounds I've accumulated since moving out to Texas.

What is a good work out plan/regiment would you guys consider? Keep in my mind I'm looking for weight loss, don't really care to beef up or anything like that.

I need machines to use, duration, reps on weights to aid in the weight loss.

Pretty much any suggestions. Most of my damn weight is in my damn GUT or really in my damn face.

    AGE- 25
    WEIGHT- 210
    HEIGHT- 5'8"

Help me out people.. lemme know what works! I know there are some health guru's on this site.

You should be able to get a very good work out in an hour. People who go to the gym for 2 or 3 hours at a time are just starving themselves (muscles).

One of the most over played things to do when you get in the gym is hit the treadmill. Get warmed up and then hit the weights. A trainer I go to church with says that you should hit the weights first before doing any cardio. Because the first thing you burn is sugars and then fats... people who do cardio first will burn thru the sugars (leaving them feeling tired/sleepy/drowsy) and then try lifting... If you do weight training first, you'll burn thru the sugars first and then your cardio will burn the fat at the end.

I've lost 30 lbs going this route (of course dieting also). My diet for myself is easy and I think anyone can do it... its just portion control. Eat what you want but just watch your portions. Now of course if at all possible, try to eat healthier and stay away from FAT FAT FAT foods, but don't limit yourself on ONLY eating what is healthy, otherwise it'll be too hard to stick with the diet. I've found (for myself) that portion control works for me and I continue to eat what I want... pastas, taco bell, KFC, occasional McD's... just portion control yourself... oh and get into counting calories.

Record your eating habits. cut down on the calories.

workout should be higher reps with light weight unless you want to gain massive muscle mass. do 10-15 rep 3 sets depending on excercise.

do alot more cardio since cardio is an effective way of losing weight. start off small. maybe 150calories a day and each week increase by 5 calories. if you work out 4 times a week your cardio will be burning alone 600 added with the weight lifting that is easily a lb a week you will lose if your eating the same.

im not an expert at this but its what has worked for me.

I am losing 1lb a week which is what i want. if you have an iphone there is a free app that records what you eat and how many calories. check it out if you have an iphone.
