Wireless system issues

For sometime now, my wireless system has being acting up, again. My computer will not stay connected to the network. I"m thinking that the wireless card might be bad, but I'd like to rule that out. How long do wireless cards generally last because if its bad, I would be on my second replacement. So what else could be causing this problem? Here is what i've done so far:

- unplugged router and modem
- restarted comp ( I was told this "refreshes" the connection?)
- moved computer and network hardware to different locations
- tweaked antenna's for better signal

what do you mean by "tweak" lol

wifi is funny, its literally radio waves that can have any and all interference.

is your network a,b,g,or n?

wep encryption or wpa, or none?

how far away is your computer from the router?

how many computers use it?

By tweak, i meant improve by adjusting the antenna's. The network is WEP encrypted, two computers use it, the network is G and the router is about fifty feet away.
