I had to take steroid shots for medical reasons once.. probably something different from what your buddy took but I didn't see any real side effects. I can see how someone would get addicted, you feel basically invincible on them. I don't like anything that alters my natural state of mind so I was happy to stop but don't let your buddy go through numerous cycles.
