If they are going to waste your time and drag you into court to try to get extra money from you, they least that you can do for them is insist on a jury trial. If enough people would return the favor, they would have to stop writing tickets. You do realize that the fine is the maximum that you can pay under the law. Fighting it will not raise the amount. It can only stay the same or lower it.

Well, depending upon your past record, your entire record, the judge might want to see you so he can inflate the ticket price and make you jump through hoops.
My past record has tons of speeding tickets, so much that I lost my license. I had not gotten a ticket for 3 years and then got another, the judge made me appearand then he inflated the price of the ticket to$500 because of my previous record since I was 16. My record was almost clean with the exception of one last stop sign ticket 3 years before and he still nailed me.
The tickets fall off your points record after 3 years but the record of the tickets stay there for all the proceeding judges to see.

i had a ticket in gwinnett a few years ago that was 62 in a 45. my ticket was like 108... if i remember corectly, you cant pay over the phone, you have to go to the recorder's court and pay it at the window. but you shouldnt have to have a mandatory court appearance. i'd call and talk to someone else...

Call back up there and talk to someone. It also depends on if it was a city or county cop.

I got a ticket for 56 in a 35 by Gwinnett cop, showed up to court since it was my first one, got dropped to $88 from $117.

Second ticket was 55 in a 35 by LAWRENCEVILLE cop. Paid without using court, $225.

Call back up there and talk to someone else, you should not have to appear.
