A lot of things have changed in 7 years mostly being bait systems and chemical barriers. Hel 7 years ago they didn't make a bait that I would use on a dog house must less sell and stand behind a million dollar damage warranty. Chemical treatment is almost obsolete and unless done as a pre-construction treatment it won't last but for a few years if that.
Dursban (Chlorpyrifos) has been banned from occupied/residential treatment so the baits have taken over and with the technology out now they have come a long way. There are a few other options out there but most are not cost efficient compared to their effectiveness.
Have you been to any of the classes that show/explain liquid treatments when drilling/treating concrete, bricks, blocks, rocks, etc.? Very interesting where the pesticide actually ends up. Almost every treatment gets less than a 70% chemical barrier anyway so don't trust that completely anymore.
Don't get me wrong because I will take a chemical pre-treat along with a bait system all day long and feel very comfortable knowing I have good protection. That's what I have now and that's what I have done with every house that we own including the 3 we will be building in the near future.
However if a house is already built then a pre-construction treatment is out of the question. Therefore I would recommend this bait system to anyone with a pre-existing structure. If it has active termites then of course a liquid spot treatment would definitely be in order for the contact kill.
I have over a hundred houses now under warranty with us that we have found active termites in the bait stations with no activity found anywhere within the structure so I trust these more than the old school liquid treatments by a long shot.
I also have probably close to a hundred customers that had termites before installing this system. Within a few months after installing the baits the termites have been eliminated with no signs of activity anywhere within the structure or stations. Colony elimination is the new way and it is doing a great job so far with improvements being made monthly.
