My birthday is coming up and I'm thinking about getting a camera. I would like it to be a SLR camera. I was thinking maybe a Canon Rebel. People have also suggested a Nikon D40 and D60. Anyone have any advice?

That's true. Is the D60 worth it though cause it has like 12 mega pixels. I want something that is good that won't get out dated fast.

Spend your money how you'd like, but I recommend investing in good glass(better lenses) then go back and upgrade the body.
