Default US HIV Rate is higher than we thought:

    CNN: http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/condi...rss_topstories
    BBC: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/7539267.stm

The fact that the new generation isn't too educated on the subject, makes it even harder to control the situation. Sad really.

About 56,000 people became infected with HIV in the past year, which translates to about 40 percent more cases than officials had estimated, said Dr. Kevin Fenton, director of the CDC's National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD and TB Prevention.
thats scary... 40% is too high for me. crazy

im starting to believe that sex education in schools has been censored and cleaned up too much that kids dont understand it as much as we did. People ou age were scared by graphic pics and detailed information. But nowadays parents complain.. about stuff being too graphic etc.. and rather hand out condoms than educate kids about.

meaning after that statistic was released we didnt move at all in terms of overall reported cases.

Despite recent, improved access to antiretroviral treatment and care in many regions of the world, the AIDS pandemic claimed an estimated 2.1 million (range 1.9–2.4 million) lives in 2007. Globally, an estimated 33.2 million people lived with HIV in 2007.
Sub-Saharan Africa remains by far the worst affected region. In 2007 it contained an estimated 68% of all people living with AIDS and 76% of all AIDS deaths, with 1.7 million new infections bringing the number of people living with HIV to 22.5 million

that bronze medal was far short of the numbers other countries are producing

As wonderful as that obviously seems to you. look at the education of those other countries compared to ours. The point is, We know about it and still dont take the neccesary precautions. I think everyone should be tested once a year. mandatory

I dont see why not. Most counties in GA make you do virtually the same thing for your car:

You know what is funny is that I actually have a friend that fell for a girl and when she told him she had HIV he still stayed with her and they are sexually active. They even plan on having kids and are engaged to be married. Some people really do not care

lulz there is a big difference compared to manditory AIDS testing....infact thats against some forms of religion. Tell that to the scientologist members It also infringes upon peoples rights as US citizens. I do agree its a good idea, it would just never work. possibly as a means of entering College or other type tests, like those required for normal schooling (immunization shots etc.) or possibly work related "required" testing that would be the only legal way about it that i could see...though there would still be plenty of law suits to test it. In the end, if we make it manditory that a once yearly AIDS test must be given, then we would have to think about all the other viruses/diseases/cancers etc that we should be testing for as well. Heart disease still kills more americans anually than any other virus or disease or cancer....yet there is still no manditory testing required. think about it

There is a difference between knowing she is the one and knowing she's just another chick to add to your collection. I'm sure your friend is also HIV+ and the only reason why he's sticking around is because it's pretty much too late, so he might as well stick around and make a life with what he's got. No shame in that, if they both love each other because they can relate to the HIV and feel that there won't be anyone else to accept them cause of it, then more power to them. Any normal person would avoid contact with an HIV+ person, no matter if he/she is absolutely flawless. That's the bottom line.

    One Blood Sample=Testing for all

And honestly I would think in that situation some sort of Marshall Law would take affect.... Where there was no vote...

He is not HIV+, he has no STD. He goes to get tested every year as a ritual with me. They have protected sex. As far as knowing she was the one, hardly dude...They dated 4 times, she told him and he did not care. It just so happens that it worked out for him bc he truly loves her now, but not when he found out.

When was the last time he got tested? A condom only does so much against HIV. Have sex enough times with someone with HIV and you'll eventually contract it. Another problem with sex ed these days. Kids think condoms protect against everything. They're only a small barrier that helps to protect. You can still contract diseases while using them, and with improper use, oops, you're having a baby.
