I have an XD40 and love it. I paid 480 for it brand new. Is the ported barrel a new option for this and is that why the price is so much higher?

^^^ported has been around for a while and is usually slightly more (no more than like $50 though). he did probably spend about $40+ on just the ammo...and tax is usually another $30+ depending on selling price so it sounds about right

Nice, APD standard is .40 CAL now. I can't see buying anything smaller than a .40 though.

yeah b/c a 9mm is a bee sting in the ass, a .40 will let you poop out a new hole. Thats the reason for change over.

Man this thing shoots nice. The plus of the porting is there is almost no recoil. The bad thing is it is loud as all hell, it shoots a 3 inch v shaped flame......kinda cool, and my face was black after 100 rounds. Honestly its louder than a .45.

The guns are a great deal. They come with a formed pistol holster, a v shaped mag holster that holds two mags, speed loader, lock, two mags, and a bore brush. Really alot for the money. Breakdown is smooth and easy.

lol. thats what ammo manufactures want us to think. Bottom line, handguns are weak; spend money on training and not guns then It wont matter what calibre you use.

ps. oh yes, nice choice. The ported barrel is questionable, but you cant go wrong with a XD.

Well a 9mm is still a powerful load if you are shooting a sane person. But being police you are dealing with lunatics a lot and people doped up on drugs. Going agianst someone on PCP with a 9mm is pointless unless you can nail the brain or heart directly.

Me. If I got shot by a .22 I'd be like "Damn this. I give up".

I had a Smith and Wesson 45 (Like the police use or use to use) but I sold it. It was great for shooting around the broad side of a barn. But of handguns I only have a Taurus 357 Magnum stub nose revolver and a 44magnum 4" barrele Revolver from Taurus. The 357 is the perfect concealed gun and the 44magnum just craps bullets and spits flames. Plus is pretty damn scary looking. The 44magnum does hide pretty well for what it is and has some decent stopping power.

Which I like the Springfields. I'm not a composite fan but I've heard good about Springfield pistols. Of your composites I prefer the H&Ks but they are still better than Glocks.

that handguns are weak, and that training is more important than what calibre you use. Not sure how else to word that.

I'm pretty sure that would not be your reaction. Especially if it was a torso shot. In general .22 LR shot from a hand gun tend to get stuck in the body and bounce around. They are in fact one of the most deadly rounds because of this.
