growing up in Chicago we had the trains that would take you anyplace in the city. I used to get on the trains and goto Cubs and Sox games all the time. On top of the trains we had the bus system that you could get from where I grew up in Blue Island all the way out to Kankakee with 3 transfers. Its over 40 miles straight line and took about 4-5 hours to get that far, but it was possible. 1 thing that ATL could do to aleviate some of the traffic, especially downtown is add a elevated train system. There would be less impact on the streets than construction would and would get alot of people off the streets in the downtown area.
