an expansion of the rail system is important to this and every other major city in the US.
in NY, 50% of residents dont even own cars due to the fact that----"WHY? the rail takes me wherever i need to go....ANYTIME." CHICAGO_ though they have people driving in from gary, indiana/ waukeagan, wisconsin they still have a transit system that runs 24/7.
when i moved here('94) i thought it extremely frickin retarded to have a
"MAJOR" city like atlanta, known for partying til dawn, a place where somethings always going on at anytime/day of the week, to have a rail system that dumps you off at midnight...2am at the latest.
expansion of the railways well beyond it's present size needs to happen. we'd all stand to benefit from that.
i think it's funny the counties that didnt want to be involved, citing "increased crime", turned around and created their own transit systems and where to the riders end up? ON MARTA.
