My question is, why or how did the animal control find out about the racoon. Did you notify them? I would think all you had to do is throw the carcass into the trash or dump it on the street and pretend it was highway kill.

Actually, I really thought about doing that, but I kept thinking about the rabies thing. I called Animal Control just to ease my mind thinking they'd tell me as you were thinking and they told me NOT to even touch it, they'd come right away to get it. A little while later they showed up and took for testing.
