I know when I got my ticket in SC and didn't pay it they sent a letter to the State of Georgia about the ticket. The state then sent me a certified letter stating to turn in my license. I never turned it in. But it also stated in the letter that my license was from now on suspended until I paid the fine in SC and paid a reinstatement fee. I called my uncle who is a Dekalb County Police Sargent and he told me that if I got pulled over for whatever small or large I'd get taken to jail for driving on a suspended license. Once they put it out on the national database that you have a suspended license-whichever state, county, or town jurisdiction stops you-they'll be the ones to lock you up and fine you. I've known plenty of people that have gotten pulled over on suspended license from other states and they pay their fine and get out. It's not worth tax payer dollars to transport you back to the home state for a traffic violation unless it's something like vehicular homicide-and that's a damn felony.
I later paid the fine, SC sent me a blue paper saying I paid. I went to the tag office and paid a $250 reinstatement fee and was able to get another license.
