Beta Theta Pi at Tech. Still active and live in the house. Brother was a Sigma Chi at Tech, my grandfather was Delta Tau Delta at Tech, and my dad was Delta Sigma Phi at Wofford. Fraternities are mainly a southern thing. I actually joined with a couple of my best friends from high school. Oh and I save about $1500 a semester by being greek and living in the house as compared to paying for GT housing and food. Biggest gain of joining a house if connections more than anything. I've had a few very nice job offers from alumni above avg. pay etc. and never even interviewed. Also overall greeks at Tech have a higher GPA. Our house avg is actually above a 3.0.

Really greek or not depends on the school. Tech doesn't have much social stuff outside the greek system because not really a downtown like say Athens or Auburn. Also a lot of the girls at Tech are greek and of course that means they mainly go to fraternity houses to hang out. So another advantage to being greek at Tech. Not sure I'd be greek anywhere else but I am very glad that I am at Tech.

Oh and I can't remember who said Beta's are arrogant (true of some but same with every house) but actually we are one of the few houses that has mainly open parties and lets anyone in whether you know someone or not.
