"White people like Obama because he makes Bryant Gumbel look like Malcolm X."
Same with Hillary if whoever wins the election and becomes President.....If they do absolutly good then it wont matter but if they slip and make a mistake that the American people dont like thats when the rasict or sexist comments come.......
isnt obama muslim?

I'm sure if he loses we will hear the ''He lost because he's black'' ****. But that's going to come anytime there is a race between races(lol), there are too many people in the US for some of them not to believe that's it.
Bozzio for president.
I think its quite progressive as far as race relations go because it proves that whites as well as other races are able to look past the color of a persons skin. I'm already impressed by how far he has come.
wow noone can give a decent response..
*edit; spoke too soon!
^here ya go id rather have him then that b*tch hillary
I don't see your ungodly awesome answer. You made the question but have no opinion of your own? Fck you.
Bozzio for president.
Might I remind some that this isn't the "anything goes" whoreslounge so keep it civil please.

Ok, let me break my answer down a little. (sorry about that Tony)
I see it as this, if there is racism it's no good, the only thing that is good for racism is there not being any. What would you say is a good quality of racism? So I don't know how it can hurt what's already here and bad enough. It might help because maybe some of the intolerant will realize that other races are just as equal and qualified for positions such as Presidency.
Bozzio for president.
He'll win. He's got Hillary under a barrel. In a general election versus McCain, Obama is young, energetic, intelligent, eloquent and charismatic. McCain is old, grungy and in general an uncouth/coarse person. Who's going to win that?
There's never been a prominent black authority figure in the U.S. besides Colin Powell - and he was only secretary of state. I'd say its a no brainer that it would go a long way towards creating a perception of greater racial integration.

I believe it will not do too much at all for the racial issues we have in the U.S. Bigots will hate him whether he turns the economy around and ends poverty, or if he sits on his ass for 4 years. Non-bigots will either like him or dislike him based on his performance as President. I do think you will see a whole lot of hate towards him simply because he is black, whether people like to admit it or not.
I also think he has a huge chance of being assassinated by some crazy ass right-wing militia group if he does get elected. You know the type, the ones that insist on having .50 cal sniper rifles and automatic weapons to protect their homes and families.

To be honest, im a republican, and i wont vote because i cant stand any of the candidates. Obama an hillary are so far left and mcain is so far right, none of them excite me.
on the subject of racism, i think it would actually help the black community to have a REAL figure to look up to. That is if they dont bastardize him like they did condoleeza rice. I wont care if a Black man is president, as long as he does a GOOD JOB.
Racism wont happen unless people make an issue out of it. If this becomes the "we finally got our guy in" then we are in trouble.
The problem is, can Obama win, and still keep the respect from the minorities (not just blacks). Or will he be categorized as an uncle tom or "selling out" if he doesnt keep it "real".
I know that sounds harsh, but if you are older you know what im implying.
If Obama wins, he has some pretty hard years ahead of him, a dwindling economy, housing market, recession, trade, racism, healthcare, etc. I think racism is last on the list of those things.

I don't think what race he is matters. It more of what he is capable of.
I got dinner to goto.
i personally hope he doesnt win, for his own safety. im not racist, i just see it as we dont a first black president, because he will more than likely become the first black president.......assassinated. there are to many dumbass racist that will not accept it and im sure atleast one is willing to do something about it.

I think it will be the same as it was if he wasn't the president, because i feel now race relations is prob as good as it going to get right now. There are too many bigots who live their life to be racist and teach their kids the same way and you find more than half of them are in trailer parks.

yet all of the presidents have been of one race. don't get me wrong, as long as they performed with the best INTEREST of the american people, and as the figurehead of america, to the world, i have had no problem with that.
but i dont care if we had an indian president, who worships krishna. so long as he does a good job for american people, who put him in office, and in representing america to the world.
I think it will be great for race relations, and give Blacks and other minorities (national) another role model (he should be considered one now, as with NUMEROUS other blacks in politics). Im glad we are finally to this point on our country. But....
This is 2008 people, there is no large white supremists group anymore. The klan everyone likes to throw in all other whites faces all the time is essentially no more. There are more black "supremists" now by far that want special treatment for thier race. How many white marches have you seen in recent history? How many black? The government gives special treatment to minorities, which should have never happened. As long as any race gets special treatment IN ANY FORM there will be rampant racism.
Racism is not just whites hating blacks, its also blacks hating whites (and other minorities of course). Blacks get away with more than whites now, which will have to change to eliminate racism. What do you think Sharpton would say about white only awards? or about whites marching for a white that almost killed a black kid by beating? Or a white only scholarship? There has to be a happy medium, and there isn't. All races need to accept responsibility for our current race problems and stop looking to the past for which race is to blame. I HATE racists of any fashion, which is just ignorance to me.
But to finish my answer, Obama will not help racism IMO. To do that he will have to remove government policy that gives special treatment to minorities and immigrants, but as mentioned by another "old schooler"like me on here, if that happens he will most likely be labelled as an Uncle Tom and considered a sale out.
As long as we compare him to his prodecesor, he is bound to be a great president.

I wont vote democrat, thats for sure, as a republican, unless someone else gains momentum, or mccain changes some of his views, im not really interested in either party.
McCain is conservative only because his party wants him to be.. he wants to lead a country but will quickly abandon his ideals to appease his constituents..
For a black man to go this far in a race, to me, is surprising. People are starting to focus more on the character itself rather than skin color. unless obama does bad, i doubt there's going to be any finger pointing at black race. my .02
i hate mccain and obama and hilary. so my comment is pretty neutral, right?![]()
It will have no effect on racial tension/stereotyping. Whites aren't the only ones guilty of creating racial tension.

I think this is a very realistic question...I believe minorities will eventually lose respect for Obama. He is a very articulate, charismatic man, but he appeals to a very diverse group of people. He could lose support by trying to help the "wrong" minority in someone else's eyes. I would love to see a difference in the way our country is being governed, don't get me wrong (I voted for Hillary.) I was just trying to add some of my own insight!Originally Posted by Batlground
