which is the second most boring town around after cochran. Having lived in or around macon for most of my life, I can truthfully say that macon blows. I feel like I need to take a bath in gasoline after I go anywhere in downtown macon. its dirty and the people are usually trashy. I know there are some exceptions to the rule, and there are a few cool people who still hang out in macon, but most people just go to milledgeville, athens, or ATL when they are looking to have a good time.

On a side note, if you do happen to travel through macon, make sure you are carrying. There are some rough people in the interior of macon (between mercer univ. dr and eisenhower pkwy, and around the gray hwy/shurling drive area).

lol at people going to milledgeville that place is lame... I do go to athens and atlanta often tho. Macon doesn't blow its blows to most because as you've said you lived and been around here your entire life, so have I and i kind of like macon. oh yea lol at saying eisenhower and mercer university( unless you meant to say around napier ave., hillcrest, or bloomfield) are rough parts of macon. i'll give you gray hwy/shurling dr. downtown macon is pretty dirty tho but the atmosphere is great...don't see where you get the people are trashy from (maybe the people who come to macon to go downtown who are from cochran, dublin, or gray).

What's lame about milledgeville? I would go there any day over going to the dirty iguana or red eye. Those places are terrible. The girls are slutty and the guys are a bunch of pricks. They are almost as bad as whiskey river. Thats pretty much the trashiest place i've ever set foot in, and I was back out the door in less than 30 seconds. Its not the people from gray, its the people from the macon side of jones county (hwy 49 area). I know a few people from gray, and none of them are that bad. At least in milledgeville there is a good mix of people. All the bars are close together so you dont have to drive or walk a half mile between them. I've been all over the place, and I can honestly say that milledgeville>macon in terms of bars and places to hang out.

And I was talking about poppy street and those other roads that connect mercer with eisenhower. Have you ever been back there? It's ghetto as hell. A guy who used to work for my dad lived over there and his house got shot up like 3 times in one year.

Yes I've been back there used to smoke when I was in high school so I've been to alot of ghetto spots, hell my high was in the middle of the ghetto lol (Central High School). I just don't like the ville man I have a couple of friends who go to gcsu but come right back to macon because they say milledgeville is ****ing boring as hell. One is paying for a apartment down there but still comes back and stays in Macon everyday. Any girl you meet a club will be a **** 95% of the time so thats not a arguement there lol. what kind of girls are you looking for and if your looking for them in the club than you might want to try a different venue.

Have you considered GCSU? Thats where I have been for the last 2 years. I'll graduate from there this fall. Oddly enough, UGA doesn't offer my major. GCSU was the next most highly recommended for my major. I dont consider UGA to be a party school. It's one of the most reputable universities in the south east. Athens may be a party town, but UGA is pretty tough, and you have to take school seriously to make it there. I have quite a few friends who go there/have graduated from there and they party on the weekends, but stay burried in the books during the week. I would consider valdosta or georgia southern to be party schools. The few friends I have that go there party every night and still breeze by with b's and c's....

It's not a bad school, but like everyone else has said, it's a boring ass town.

Bump for anyone with more input. I just got back from going down there to see the Cochran location and the Eastman campus. I will most likely be going there to further air traffic control. I defiantly know its in the sticks and the town looks horrible but I don't plan on being there on the weekends anyways.
