I live in downtown Atlanta and I know for a fact its not safe.

Downtown Atlanta is not that bad. It's the immediate surrounding metro areas that are. Just like another said, downtown is mainly just homeless people and crackheads. The "activity" that takes place is concentrated mainly in the outlying neighborhoods. Later, QD.
