    Default paintball guns...

so i'm thinking about buying good gun, i've heard alot of good things about the tippman 98 custom pro. i'm leaning towards that one because it has anti chop technology and i'm tired of the balls exploding in the barrel. my friend has a black dragon and says its the best ever.
anybody have any suggestions? post up your gun and tell how much it was and if it was worth it. thanks.

are you buying new or used? because ebay and craigslist can get you great deals.

I have a PMI Piranha STS G3 (about 5 years old) w/ Lapco Bigshot barrel, reddot sight, and homemade drop forward (cost about $3 to make... but i have access to mills and welding machine). Its pretty accurate, parts are pretty standard for all Piranhas and Spyders. VERY VERY easy to disassemble and put back together. Can disassemble and reassemble in less than 30 seconds (bolt assembly that is).

I had a Tippman 98 with flatline barrel. it was ok too, but my reddot sight didnt stay on well and i dont like the clam shell design. A lot of allen head screws that are hard to take out.

i had a 98c with a flatline barrel and a response trigger. costed about $400 total. also had a tippmann a5 w/flatline too. i liked both. i would choose the a5 over the 98c any day though.

the a5 was my second choice. its alittle more but i like the hopper and delivery system alot more. only thing is the shorter barrel.

i'm buying new, my girlfriend wants to get it for me for valentines day and we found them at academy sports and she got a credit card with no payment for awhile.

tippman 98c is an awesome beginners as well as mid-range gun. Incredible amount of mods and support. I had a Spyder Victor I, TL, and used a A5 for a bit but nothing matched the durability of the 98c.

i like how you put good gun and tippman in the same sentance,

how much money are you willing to spend? get a used dm4 or dm5 or **** kick it old school and get a vert feed cocker with a nice slide

also a marker will only chop paint if you dont have a loaded to keep up

revvy's in most cases will work unless your shooting a timmy or something of that sort youll need a halo b

im not knocking tippmans and spyders but you can alot more gun for 400 then those

oh and btw be a man go with hpa, co2 is for kooks

if i had a higher price range i'd look into something like the dm4 or dm5 but my girl isn't wanting to spend more then $300, plus i need paintballs , i found an a5 with mask, tank, and hopper for 250, and i'm going to sell the extra tank and mask and my old hopper to my friend that way i can get some cash.
oh and i've never used anything but co2, hows the hpa and have you ever heard of using propane or nitrogen?

propane wont work beacuse it is to volitable(sp) nitrogen, ive seen and some others that i cant think of pretty much anything you can presureize that wont explode easily haha

250 for all that isn;t to bad and the a5 is alot nicer then the c98 imo

hps is better in alot of respects more constant , doesnt freeze or spike at all,
fills are cheaper, co2 will freeze a fast gun, or an electronic gun, not a liek a spyder or something with just an electric frame but something with a wiring harness and noid inside the gun

no.... dont **** around and fill a co2 tank with anything expect for co2

and same go's with a hpa tank nothing but air can go in there

if you want a tank that will run nitrogen then you will have to build a tank

just search for the regs and tank buy one of each and there ya go, youll prob have to have it hydroed before you could use it

HPA tanks can hold nitrogren. All HPA tanks once held nitrogren until it became too expensive, then they started filling with air.

i'd like to get the ion but i could only pick between the guns at academy sports because my girlfriend got a credit card so she has no payments for 3 months or whatever. but we went today and i ended up getting the tippman 98 custom pro. i've shot about 500 balls through it and didn't have a single chopped ball. pretty accurate too. only cost about 189 too.

well thanks for all the tips and advice, but i already got the tippman 98 custom pro. shoots pretty damn good. i'm not going pro or nothing like that its just a bunch of us playing in my friends woods. i would have loved to the an angel or ego or ion but i could only choose from a few at the sports store. except for the a5 this was the best one i could find.

Some people like one or other or both. I enjoy both myself. They both have great aspects. And no, speedball helped keep the game alive and actually was able to get broadcast.

A5 with Flatline all the way, best woodsball gun hands down.

If you wanna spend into the thousands and dont mind high maintenance guns, try the Angel series

i took the 98 custom pro back, got the a5 and now i'm on my way to take it back and get either the spyder mr2 or the 98 custom. the stock a5 sucked. it chopped a few balls and wasn't accurate at all.
