As a young, black man, growing up in the south, I can't count on my hands and fingers the number of times I have been made to feel like and outcast when people gain knowledge of my Atheism.
My moral code or balance between right and wrong is no less sturdy now, as ir was when I was a "christian". I used to feel taboo when people know of my religious view (or lack there of). But now, realizing that there are so many more of us contributing to the United States and the world, I am much more comfortable.
All I want is to be happy. If atheism and searching for the truth will lead to my happiness, then so be it. I'm ready for the journey!

Im hispanic, so I totally understand what you're trying to say. I've been like this ever since I started going to church as a child. Which was when I was around 10 or so. I never understood what was taught, because as a child I was always into science and the laws behind it.
