I forgot to mention why I was surprised that I wasn't covered.

I opened a new policy at the end of August last year, and the car insurance was $78.87/mo, and there was also a $12/mo. life insurance policy on the same account. I paid $325 at the start thinking that would get me through the year at least since auto was ~$80/mo., but $195 of it apparently went toward a down payment that I had no idea I had to pay and the $325 really only covered me until October.

On October 25th, I switched my policy to a new car and 1) gave the guy there my brand new driver's license, which had my brand new address on it so that he could update it, and 2) asked the guy right then if I owed anything and he said "Nah, you're covered through the year."

Apparently he meant I was literally "covered through the year" as in my policy lapsed on the 31st of December, not that my next payment was due in January. So yeah...my only claim is ignorance, but I doubt that will be enough. I've already been asked, "You didn't think to ask about why you hadn't received a statement for three months?" Well, not really when I think I'm pad for the entire time, I don't think I have ANYTHING to worry about, ya know?

Oh, and I turned 25 on Nov. 16th, which should have dropped my insurance by a good bit as well.

Sorry for the long posts, I'm just really upset.
