What kind of warranty does he have. Best Buy offers 3 kind of warranties (maybe more). Like one that basically is an extension of the manufacturers warranty and if they can't fix it in 3 tries then they will replace it with the same item or of something of equal or comparable value that does the samething (excludes misuse) and then you have the replacement warranty that will replace the item if it ever gets defective (excludes misuse). The warranty he might be talking about is the warranty that Best Buy offers on Cameras and other portable items that protects your purchase incase you drop it.

He better check to make sure what warranty he purchased. All he has to do is go into a best buy and tell some one in Customer Service to CCM (Customer Contact Manager) his name or phone number and that will let him know what warranty he has.

Also a Manager has final say so in the matter and if the manger decides that the product was destroyed by you on purpose, then have fun dealing with Corporate trying to get them to take care of the situation.

At the store I work at, Geek squad is serious about checking items out throughly before they deem an item warrants warranty protection.
