First off, yes, rasicm exists but because someone possibly insulted you based on your race does not give you the right to beat the living shit out of them. Assault is a crime. It usually only considered justified if it is in self defense. These white kids never laid a hand on the black kids. If you beat the crap out of someone, there is a good chance you'll get in trouble no matter if they are the same race as you or not. It's ridiculous to think that it is okay to physically harm someone because of a possibly offensive gesture.

People say and do things that offend me (and I'm sure just about everyone else) every single day. You have to learn to just move past it. In this case, if it was a group of fat kids, they probably would have hung up some twinkies, it's likely they were just trying to rile up the other group and get them to stay away. Are they racist? Maybe... I don't know them but it still doesn't mean you can beat them up.

People need to start focusing on real racism and not stupid things done by stupid kids. People get annoyed and apathetic about it when every single thing is labelled as racist. It does nothing but hurt the real issue.

In September 2006, a group of African American high school students in Jena, Louisiana, asked the school for permission to sit beneath a "whites only" shade tree. There was an unwritten rule that blacks couldn't sit beneath the tree. Someone tried to burn down the schooland this someone is? i can take a guess..... , and on December 4th, a fight broke out that led to six black students being charged with attempted murder. To his word, the D.A. pushed for maximum charges, which carry sentences of eighty years. Four of the six are being tried as adults (ages 17 & 18) and two are juveniles.

Yesterday, I was in Jena for the first day of the trial for Mychal Bell, one of the Jena 6. The D.A., perhaps in response to public pressure, tried to get Bell to cop a plea. Bell refused, and today, jury selection began. After today, we'll know whether or not the case will be tried in front of an all-white jury. Jena's 85-percent white, and it remains to be seen whether or not the six can get a fair trial.

Sure they have. Who do you think was oppressed before blacks came on the scene, the Purples? England is a prime example of this. From the 1300's to the 1700's there were mass tortures, beheadings and general stripping of liberties of other whites. They don't call the Tower of London the Bloody Tower for nothing. Kings have ALWAYS ruled with an iron thumb, if they didn't, they were killed and replaced. Slavery was common, (White Slavery), lootings and way worse things were an everyday occurance during those times. We can keep going into history lessons all day, i'm sure I can trump yours many times over.

But lets also face some facts here. YOU were not a slave, your parents were not slaves, maybe your grandparents might have been slaves.
