i have a miniature daschaund...it's a merel dapple. I love this dog he has a great personality he will be lazy if you are and playful if you want him to be. He does drool but his personality makes up for it. they dont drool everywhere mostly after drinking water but you wipe his mouth and he's good.

yeah, i had a miniature daschaund but she just went to that big dog house in the sky a couple of months ago. so i'm still trying to decide on what type of dog to get. I just don't want to get the Basset and have it drooling all over the place but if its not that bad then i should be ok.

potty training is suppose to be bad with them, but it was for my daschaund too. Drooling really isn't that big of a deal with them from what i have been told it's all hyped up more than it really is.

so i'm really concidering getting a basset and i was talking w/some guys from work about it. They told me Basset Hounds are really stubborn dogs that crave attention. A guy told me he had one and unless he would sit and pet it all the time the dog would just bark. He said its a loud deep bark. I'm worried if i go to work & leave this dog in my appt. its going to bark the entire time. What do you think about your Basset? Have you had any problems out of it so far (i know its kinda new)? Thanks,

    Swifty

nah no problems like that yet he does like attention but if you don't show him any he'll just go lay down and sleep, he hasn't torn anything up really except when we first got him he tore up my sandals but that's it. He barked for the first 3 days or so when we left him alone but now he's alright and wasn't to stubborn to train, he's almost potty trained right now but still has small accidents when he gets excitedto see you but, he can't control that.

i would hate for you to get one though and it did act like that and you got rid of it though.

Yeah, Thats what i'm worried about. My Daschound (sp?) was very easy going and very easy to train. I want a Basset though cause they seem like very cool dogs. My biggest concern is him barking while i'm at work cause i'll be living in an apartment complex. I think i'm going to get one anyways.
