I put my friend down to sleep today
My mastiff whow as 11 yrs old, I put down today. It didnt efect me at the time becasue I didnt watch it. My wife who has owned him since he was born was there and when they gave him the injection she held his head while it fell to the ground. I was a little upset when she came outside the clinic and said it was done. I was looking thru my old pics and I came across his and I just lost it. I havent known him that long like a couple of years and I miss him so badly right now.
He loved going on the back porch and hanging out. He had tumors,cancer and went from 210 lbs to 125lbs. I bathed him every day and he still smelled of death. We would go on walks but after a few hundred feet he would get tired. I still kinda regret putting him down, I feel I should have waited another 6months. R.I.P Max, a AKC champion

terrible... i'm sorry. I lost my black lab Pilot to cancer a few years back, we had him as long as I could remember. It's something you don't think would affect you nearly as much as it does..
We had to put down our dog that I grew up down last year and it DESTROYED my mother. Sorry to hear about losing your friend.
Man, Im sorry to hear that. He lived a long life, that Im sure, was full of love. 11 years was a long time. Regards to the massive mastif.

aaaaw im sorry .....you seemd like you really liked him. I know i would be sad to if my Romeo was put to sleep. Im such a pussy when it comes to my dog. I'd cry if i had to put him to sleep. and id wait for awhile till i got another dog
yeah man thats sad..any animal or person you grow up with will hurt putting them down or them dying naturally..sorry to hear that.

Been there twice, it sucks ass. My situation with my Beagle was a mess before he died. I hate losing pets. I even feel bad when the beta fishes kick.
Looks like he was and still is a great dog man, im sorry for you lose.

Yea, well I dont know if all of you guys saw this but I got another one, well I had this one when MAX was alive, he is 3months and 50lbs so far.
Putting down an animal you've basically grown up with, and have lived around for so long, really sucks. I never cry, and I lost it when my cat had to be put down.

I am pretty big on animal rights. I'm not against hunting or anything but abuse and neglect pisses me off.
I can't hate animals like I hate humans, they are not smart enough to be ignorant pricks. I used to say I hated cats but I don't, I just like dogs better.
I think it started when I killed a bird with my pellet gun that ended up being a parrot. I gues it was a pet that escaped. I felt really bad.
The situation with my beagle was bad, he was 12 and had cancer but we didn't know he just got sick and stopped eating. The bad part was he died in his sleep before we had to put him down. My parents came home from vacation to a $1000 vet bill and a dead dog.
Other than that I am pretty much a fucking asshole.
