    Default Upgrade Processor

    I have an IBM with P3 processor..and i was wondering who knew how to find out the type of processor and ..im trying to upgrade it to a higher speed processor

    you need to find the specs of your mother board to see if it can handle a higher cpu, also you can always overclock as long as you have enough cooling on the cpu to handle the extra heat.

    dude, you will have to open up the pc and see if you have a slot 1 processor or(looks like a cartridge) or a socket 370 (smaller processor with a square fan on it). If you have the slot 1 processor you have one option, buy a new computer

    Once that mystery is solved you will still have to check the chipset of the mobo to see which pIII you can upgrade to.

    the sad but true fact is even IF you are able to upgrade it it wont increase the performance too much cause its an older gen processor. Id say its time to bite the bullet and buy something new.
