Black history month was started back when blacks were treated less than human. Carter G. Woodson started Black history month in 1926, and he did it to show Blacks/Whites (mainly Black youths) what accomplishments blacks had made here in America. For many years it was only celebrated by blacks, it has only become widely celebrated in the last 20-30 years. The month doesn't preach hate for another race and it doesn’t show the supremacy of one race.
I honestly don't see the problem with the month. The month affects no one and everybody I know that actually pays attention to the month; usually learn something new (including me). I would like to know more about other races too and I don't see a problem with Asian, Spanish, White history month. Its just that you white ppl take shit too far when it involves race. If you guys could do without the cross burning and going on coon hunts, I don't see a problem with a month showing the accomplishment of whites. If you don't like Black history month, then go into a comma during Black history month
